LG Optimus L9 II, TMobile branded F6 appear on Twitter

Android lover on a budget? LG just might be prepping a few new phones in your price bracket. Pictures obtained by @evleaks show a follow up to the firm's Optimus L9 smartphone as well as a mysterious F6 handset with T-Mobile branding. The Twitter-based source doesn't have a lot of detail on either device, but a sticker on the L9 II suggests that the phone is bound for European markets. Interested in taking a peek? Twitter for iOS and Android updated with tweet preview, easier photo sharing

Twitter for iOS updated with tweet preview and expanded timelines

There doesn't seem to be much broken that needs fixing on Twitter for iOS or Android, for that matter. Which is why the latest update to hit the App Store and Google Play deals mostly in minor UI tweaks. Now, Twitaholics that bump up the Twitter app on both mobile platforms will enjoy a cleaner compose look that lets users preview outgoing tweets (including full sized photos), tag locations and quickly share photos from their gallery. On the iOS end, notifications have been added for when your friends newly sign-up for the service, as well as an expanded timeline view that does away with borders. While Android users now have access to more detailed information from the notification tray. Naturally, there are the requisite, unspecified bug fixes bundled into the software bump, but that bit's unglamorous and (thankfully) left devoid of detail. That's right, it's nothing to get hot and bothered over folks -- just a minor facelift to further enable your oversharing.

LinkedIn and Twitter updates for BlackBerry 10 focus on search

Twitter and LinkedIn updates for BlackBerry 10 deliver big leaps in search

BlackBerry isn't done with improving the BlackBerry 10 editions of LinkedIn and Twitter -- not by a long shot. The company has once more upgraded the two social apps, this time with an emphasis on search. LinkedIn now lets users import contacts to find people they already know; in Twitter, meanwhile, universal search now shows photos, profiles and tweets on a single page. There's more than just these two upgrades, of course. LinkedIn reveals more about companies and carries a slew of minor UI tweaks, while Twitter keeps content fresher with automatic caching. If the new versions are tempting, they're waiting at the source links for Q10 and Z10 owners alike.

White House taps former Twitter lawyer as first Chief Privacy Officer

White House taps former Twitter lawyer as first Chief Privacy Officer

Two months after appointing Todd Park as Chief Technology Officer, the White House has picked Nicole Wong for the newly created position of Chief Privacy Officer. Details about the job are still MIA, but she'll likely be working closely with Park. One thing's for sure, though: Wong brings some serious Silicon Valley cred to the table, having worked on product copyright and privacy issues at Google for eight years and, more recently, serving as Twitter's legal director. If you recall, the EFF gave that social network high marks when it released its annual report last week -- an auspicious sign if we've ever seen one.

Nintendo debuts 3DS image sharing tool in Japan, uploads your screengrabs to Twitter, Tumblr

Nintendo debuts 3DS image sharing tool in Japan, uploads your screengrabs to Twitter, Tumblr

Still waiting for Miiverse to show its hide on Nintendo's 3DS? Maybe the promise of more conventional social networking will tide you over. Thanks to a new web tool, Japanese 3DS owners can now share screenshots from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Tomodachi Collection:New Life with their Twitter and Tumblr followers. The setup is pretty simple, giving users access to a basic upload interface through the 3DS' built-in web browser. Just pick an image, add a caption and watch your retweets roll in. Unfortunately, the tool doesn't work with just any image -- attempting to upload a shot taken with the 3DS camera gave us an error, which told us (via a rough translation) that the picture came from "incompatible software." The tool is written entirely in Japanese, but folks with a knack for Kanji can check it out at i.nintendo.net. Looking for a compatible game? We hear there's a bundle for that.

Twitter will unveil something 'big' on Good Morning America tomorrow

Twitter will unveil something 'big' on Good Morning America, whatever that may be

Forget music halls -- Twitter thinks morning TV talk shows are where it's at for product announcements. It used The Today Show last year to unveil a profile page redesign, and we now know it will rely on Good Morning America this Thursday to unveil something... "big." But what does that cryptic clue mean? While logic would suggest Twitter Music given its semi-official status, we could also see TV in expanded tweets or something entirely unexpected. We'll keep our eyes (and possibly ears) open.
